Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is finally here, and Warhorse Studios has big plans for future DLCs. With its vast open world, getting a strong start in KCD 2 makes a huge difference.
After completing the game twice and testing different strategies, here are the best ways to secure top-tier weapons, armor, a reliable horse, and an easy source of income in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Best Early Money-Making Method in KCD 2 – Gather Herbs and Brew Potions
Once you’re freed from your restraints, the game gives you time to explore without rushing into quests. Unlike the first game, your reputation won’t take a major hit if you take things slow. I highly recommend not rushing into quests in this game. Instead, let’s make some money first.

Head to Troskowitz and immediately travel east. Look for a trader, then cross the road to find an Alchemy Bench in a small shed. Right outside, you’ll see chamomile and sage growing. The best part? They are completely free for you to take in KCD 2!
Once you’ve gathered them, start brewing Chamomile Brews. The recipe should already be in your book, but here’s a quick guide:
- Prepare Chamomile and Sage for quick access.
- Add Wine to the cauldron.
- Drop 2 handfuls of Chamomile, then boil for one turn of the sandglass.
- Grind 1 handful of Sage using the mortar and pestle.
- Add the ground Sage to the cauldron.
- Use a phial to bottle the potion.
Leveling up Alchemy unlocks perks that boost profit. Potion Seller increases prices when selling mixtures. Secret of Matter, when fully leveled, lets you brew six potions instead of three. Later, the Secret of Secrets perk allows you to craft high-value potions, making it one of the best money-making skills in KCD 2.
Best Early Armor in KCD 2 – Take Down Bandit Camps
Now that you have a stable income, it’s time to gear up in KCD 2. If you pre-ordered the game, the Brunswick Armor Set provides great protection until you reach Kuttenberg.
If you didn’t preorder the game or want another option, visit the Thief’s Camp west of Zhelejov. A thief stays near a campfire, fully armored, with only a dog for protection.

You have a few ways to handle this:
- Wait for the dog to leave and attempt a sneak attack.
- Lure the dog away by throwing stones, then deal with it separately.
- Use stealth at night to knock out the thief without a fight.
- Fight them both by circling them to put one in front of the other
Once the bandit is down, loot his chest keys and open his stash for a full armor set in excellent condition. This is one of the easiest ways to get strong early-game armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Best Way to Level up Combat in KCD 2 – Unlock the Master Strike
While finishing up in Zhelejov, stop by the Nomad Camp west of the village. Here, you’ll meet Tomcat, a skilled fighter and one of the most useful NPCs in KCD 2. You can also use the Trosky Region Interactive Map to find bandit camps to challenge yourself in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Tomcat is similar to Captain Bernard from the first game. He teaches combos, feints, and Master Strike—one of the most powerful techniques in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. You’ll find him near the arena during the day.
- Learn two combos first.
- Save the game, then challenge him to a duel.
- Use Perfect Blocks to avoid damage.
- Don’t engage in direct attacks—Tomcat will counter with Master Strikes.
- Wait for openings and target his head or hands.
Once you defeat him, Tomcat teaches you the Master Strike, a powerful counterattack based on real German sword-fighting techniques.
After mastering combat, you should rescue Mutt, your loyal dog companion. This quest is lengthy, requiring a journey across Trosky, but it’s worth it. Mutt helps distract enemies, warn you of ambushes, and find hidden locations on the map.
With Master Strikes and Mutt, handling two or three enemies at once becomes much easier.
Best Horse in KCD 2 – Find Pebbles and Unlock Its Secret Perk
If you want the best all-around horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Pebbles is the top choice when upgraded with proper gear.
To find Pebbles:
- Travel to Semine, southwest of Troskowitz.
- Enter the fort and walk through the barn to a fenced area with grazing horses.
- Look for Pebbles among them.

If your Speech skill is high, you can convince the groom to give Pebbles for free. Otherwise, you’ll need 160 groschen, which is easy to earn by selling potions.
Alternatively, a main quest brings you to Semine early in the game, making it easier to unlock Pebbles.
Pebbles starts as an average horse but becomes incredible over time. If you ride Pebbles for 35 km, you’ll unlock a secret perk that doubles its stats. Equip it with a sturdy saddle, armor, and a good harness, and it becomes either the fastest or most balanced horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, depending on your setup.

With the best early-game weapons, armor, horse, and income, you’ll be fully prepared to explore KCD 2. The world is packed with bandit camps, hidden treasures, and legendary weapons waiting to be discovered.
These strategies help you build wealth, gear up quickly, and train for battles while keeping a clean reputation. Whether you play honorably or take a more ruthless approach, this guide sets you up for success in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
