The Best Upcoming PC Games in 2025

Gaming is making a comeback this year and the top upcoming pc games of 2025 are all set to make their mark. Although we have plenty of big-name titles on the list, not all of the developers have had the best track record in putting out games that have gone down well with their established player base.

For this reason, I decided to hunt down all of the confirmed top games in 2025 set to be released this year and find the best ones that you should be on the lookout for. From grand strategy to immersive action-adventure titles set in an open world, here are the top 5 upcoming PC games in 2025 that I recommend.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – February 4th, 2025

kcd-2-preview

Kingdom Come Deliverance was an obscure title that I only got into in early 2021. The game looked and felt unpolished from the start, but the immersive open world, historical accuracy, and gripping storyline got me through it. Henry’s journey from a common blacksmith to a fearsome veteran was epic, and its sequel is definitely my pick for one of the best upcoming PC games in 2025.

The massive journey ahead to Kutenberg in KCD2 had me cancel all my plans and take a week-long vacation from work.

Scheduled for release on February 4, 2025, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 picks up right after the first one ended with Henry of Skalitz and Sir Hans Capon. This open-world RPG is set in 15th-century Bohemia bringing an authentic historical setting and a narrative that evolves based on player choices. This new iteration is set to awe players with massive cityscapes, epic sieges, early firearms that go BOOM, and refined mechanics for melee and sword combat.

The first entry wasn’t without its flaws and I would like to see the Masterstrike feature dialed down a bit right alongside Henry’s hunger bar. By the end game when we put siege to Sir Divish’s castle it felt like every other enemy would lock me into an unblockable attack. That said, KCD 2 is one of my most anticipated games and I feel quite hungry for Warhorse to continue the story that had players hooked since 2018. If you haven’t preordered the game yet, just know that I can see your IP address and I will find you!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – February 11th, 2025

The Civilization series has been one of the most popular turn-based grand strategy titles out there and it’s easy to see why. In the latest addition to the series, civ 6, players could choose between 78 different leaders, each carrying their own unique perks suiting either warfare, science, art, or spirituality.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is all set to launch on February 11, 2025, and I am excited to see what the Indian leaders are packing. Call me biased but I mostly played Civ 6 with Chandragupta and declared war against anybody settling close to me just to see the Varu elephants charge into battle. The game isn’t perfect though and streamlined a lot of mechanics which is good for new players coming in but strips away control in various ways.

From the screenshots so far, I am already hyped about the detailed character models and buildings in Sid Meier’s Civilization. In the previous game, I often wondered why units on tiles only ever had three or four characters representing an entire army corps. This really diminished the scale of all-out battles when you just see three dudes charging a wall and getting bonked by Stone Age warriors wielding wooden clubs.

I’m also hoping not to see fifty more epic leaders that are artificially put behind a paywall by 2K Games.

Grand Theft Auto VI – Fall, 2025

Rockstar Games is set to redefine open-world gaming with Grand Theft Auto VI, scheduled for release in Fall 2025. Returning to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City, the game features the largest and most immersive world in the series to date. Players will follow the intertwined stories of two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, in a narrative inspired by the infamous Bonnie and Clyde.

Let’s be honest, we all grew up with the series. I still remember coming home from school and booting up GTA 3 at a time when I was entirely too young to be playing it. That said, I have a sizzling hot take for Grand Theft Auto 6. I really don’t like Rockstar anymore. Maybe I’ve been watching too many videos from Some Ordinary Gamers but what Rockstar did to GTA Online is unforgivable, what they did to Red Dead Online is frankly criminal!

That said, I get the excitement. Rockstar releases are always game-changers, whether it’s through graphical fidelity, compelling storylines, or innovative mechanics. I loved GTA 5 and Vice City, and everyone I know did too. The fact that we’ll get a peek back into Rockstar’s Miami is definitely something to celebrate. Whether you’re on board or not, this game is bound to reshape AAA gaming for the next decade. Personally, I’m just glad the YouTubers making clickbait videos pretending to know where GTA VI is set will finally have to stop.

Monster Hunter Wilds – February 28, 2025

Capcom’s latest addition to the acclaimed franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds, is slated for release on February 28, 2025. Players will venture into the “Forbidden Lands” to uncover the mysteries surrounding a missing expedition party. My first taste of the series came from quite an unlikely source which was Monster Hunter Generations released on the Nintendo 3DS.

Playing the 2018 entry on PC got me hooked, and I ended up enjoying it while pretending it was an R-rated version of Pokemon. What’s got me really hyped for Monster Hunter Wilds is its cryptic Steam description. It talks about changing tactics based on your location, monster packs that hunt during specific weather effects, new characters coming to help, and more. It’s packed with mystery, and that’s definitely got me intrigued!

The series is known for its vast open worlds, a dynamic ecosystem teeming with monsters, and introducing new gameplay mechanics to keep things fresh, including the mountable Seikret. An open beta is scheduled for early February, allowing players to experience the game ahead of its official launch so if you have pre-ordered it, you might get a chance to get in on the action early.

Ghost of Yōtei – To be Disclosed

I know I’m cheating a bit here but hear me out, we all know Playstation exclusives will get a PC release. I just hope this doesn’t take as long as God of War Ragnarok took. Believe it or not, I only finished Ghost of Tsushima a few weeks back and the journey of Jin from the head of his own clan to a disgraced hero was a rollercoaster ride for my emotions.

I’m a bit puzzled by the setting of Ghost of Yōtei since it’s a fresh take with a new protagonist, Atsu, and a new region, Hokkaido. It’s built exclusively for PlayStation 5, with enhanced visuals, expansive environments, and refined combat mechanics. I’m still surprised we won’t be continuing Jin’s journey, especially since there’s no canon ending to it, though the ending we got is pretty satisfying on its own.

Ghost of Yōtei might be the game that forces me to get a PlayStation 5, but I’m hoping that’s not the case. Sucker Punch nailed both the story and art direction in Ghost of Tsushima, and I’m hoping we see more of that in the new game. Maybe even a DLC that wraps up Jin’s story, although I know it’s unlikely.

My Favorite Among the Top Upcoming PC Games in 2025

The competition for the top games in 2025 is fierce, Rockstar Games, Capcom, and 2K Games are all flexing their biggest IPs. While these games are worth the pre-order, if I had to recommend just one, it would have to be KCD 2.

If you love historical accuracy in your games, want period-accurate sword fights, and take part in the Hussite wars, this game is hands down the best way to experience medieval Europe. Although the first game focussed mainly on a small town and a few small battles and sieges, KCD 2 will up the ante with a massive siege of what I can conclude to be Kutná Hora.

Hear me out, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is definitely not for everyone. The first game can be frustrating to play especially when you get jumped by bandits wearing plate armor. However, the immersive gameplay, freedom to approach quests from multiple angles, and the ability to shape your character in detail, make this game the first among my most anticipated pc games of 2025.

Which of the Upcoming Top Games in 2025 Are You Excited For?

Whether you’re delving into historical RPGs with KCD2, strategizing the rise of your empire in Civilization VII, hunting formidable beasts in Monster Hunter Wilds, exploring feudal Japan in Ghost of Yōtei, or navigating the criminal underworld of Vice City in GTA 6, this year’s lineup is the most promising one I have seen in years!

These titles represent the pinnacle of gaming experiences anticipated in 2025, each offering unique adventures that cater to a wide range of player interests. Despite my personal recommendations, there are plenty of other titles coming out and I will be reviewing them pretty soon so stay tuned on Level and League for more.
