Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Date Leaks for January 2027

The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date has reportedly leaked as 26 January 2027, which, if true, means Playground’s promise that the game would hit PlayStation “later this year” is about to quietly drive off a cliff.

This is a leak rather than an official announcement, so treat it as such, but it comes from one of the more reliable leakers out there, and it lands in the same week Playground admitted it hasn’t been talking to players enough. So what’s actually going on with Forza Horizon 6? Let me explain.

Who Leaked the Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Date, and Should We Believe It?

The date comes from billbil-kun at Dealabs, who has a very strong track record on release dates and PlayStation Plus line-ups, and the claim has been reported by both Push Square and Video Games Chronicle.

Here’s what the leak reportedly says:

  • PS5 release date: 26 January 2027
  • Price: €69.99 / £59.99, matching the Xbox Series version
  • Physical edition: yes, a physical PS5 release is reportedly planned
  • Premium Edition on PS5: unknown
  • Announcement: Push Square expects an official reveal this week, with pre-orders following straight after

Billbil-kun has been right about this sort of thing for years, so while nothing is confirmed until Playground or Xbox says so, I’d honestly be more surprised if this turned out to be wrong, wouldn’t you?

Wasn’t the PS5 Version Meant to Be Out This Year?

It was, and that’s the awkward bit, because Xbox had said the PS5 version would arrive in 2026, and as recently as September, a statement on the official website said Forza Horizon 6 would be “releasing on PS5 later this year”, per VGC.

To be fair, Playground never actually gave a firm date, just a vague “sometime after the Xbox and PC launch”, which came on 19 May 2026, but slipping a promised 2026 release into late January 2027 is still the sort of thing PlayStation players will notice, and probably grumble about a fair bit!

Worth NotingA late January date would land the PS5 version a little over eight months after the Xbox and PC launch, so PlayStation players will be jumping in with a big chunk of post-launch updates already in the game.

Is Playground Stretched Too Thin Right Now?

The leak arrives in an already bumpy week, because on 6 October Playground posted a message admitting it hasn’t communicated with players as much as it could have, after a month of growing fan frustration over post-launch updates that a lot of players feel add very little.

As Pure Xbox reports, the most upvoted complaints are about a lack of street racing, repetitive weekly updates and the feeling that it’s “the same game on a new map”, while Playground says it’s looking into changes to both content and communication, which is nice, if a little vague.

There is some new stuff on the way, though, with the “Horizon Meets” update bringing a 7-Eleven Car Meet, three cars new to the series and a fresh Treasure Car, followed by a City Life-themed update, the game’s first expansion, and of course the PS5 port, all while Playground is also working on Fable. That’s a lot of plates spinning for one studio, isn’t it?

So Should PS5 Players Wait or Give Up?

My take is that PS5 players should absolutely wait, because the January version will likely be a more complete, more patched game than the one Xbox players got in May, and £59.99 for a fuller package is a better deal than paying the same price at launch for a game still finding its feet.

The real question is whether Playground can fix the update cadence before the PS5 crowd turns up, because a fresh wave of players arriving to a game its existing community feels is running out of steam is not a great look. If you want something scrappier and weirder to drive around in while you wait, my Drive Beyond Horizons review has you covered, zombies and all!
