Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Is $7.49 on Switch 2 Right Now, and It’s Somehow Cheaper Than Remake

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 is down to just $7.49 / £7.49 in Square Enix’s Harvest Sale on the eShop, with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade sitting right next to it at $7.99 / £7.99, which means you can grab both halves of the remake saga so far for less than the price of a cinema ticket and some popcorn.

These are two of the biggest, glossiest RPGs Square Enix has ever made, running on a handheld, for pocket money, so is this the best deal of the year, or is there something we’re not being told? Let me explain.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for $7.49? Seriously?

Seriously, and it’s not just one region either, because VGC reports the discounts are live across the UK, Europe, the US and Canada, with Rebirth at 85% off and Remake Intergrade at 80% off. Here’s the full breakdown:

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade: $7.99 / €9.99 / £7.99
  • Remake Intergrade Digital Deluxe: $11.99 / €13.99 / £10.99
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: $7.49 / €8.99 / £7.49
  • Rebirth Digital Deluxe: $10.49 / €11.99 / £9.74
  • Both standard editions: $15.48 / €18.98 / £15.48, down from $89.98 / €109.98 / £89.98

Yes, you read that right, Rebirth, the sequel, is actually cheaper than the first game right now, which is the sort of pricing logic that only makes sense to whoever runs the eShop spreadsheets!

Quick NoteThe sale ends on 16 November in the UK and 17 November in the US, according to Nintendo Life, so don’t leave it until the last minute and then blame me.

What Else Is in the Harvest Sale?

Square Enix has thrown a whole cornucopia of RPGs into the sale, although honestly, some of these are much better deals than others, so it’s worth checking each one against its usual price before you start clicking. A few of the US prices worth knowing:

  • Final Fantasy VII (original): $6.39
  • Final Fantasy VIII Remastered: $7.99
  • Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age: $14.99
  • NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition: $15.99
  • Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition: $19.99
  • Triangle Strategy: $23.99

Why Is Square Enix Practically Giving These Away?

My best guess, and it is just a guess, is that Square Enix wants as many people as possible caught up before Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final part of the remake project, which VGC notes launches on 8 April 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC on the same day.

That’s a big change from the first two games, which started life as PlayStation exclusives, and getting Switch 2 owners invested in Cloud and the gang now, at a price nobody can argue with, is a pretty smart way to sell a lot of copies of part three next spring. Cynical? Maybe… but it’s working on me!

Quick TipThe Digital Deluxe editions only add some extra items, a digital artbook and a mini soundtrack, so unless you really want those, the standard editions are where the value is.

Is This Actually Good for Players?

Yes, without much of a catch, because you’re getting comfortably over 80 hours of RPG across the two games for about the price of a takeaway, and both are full, complete games rather than cut-down versions. The only real cost is your time, because trust you me, Rebirth’s side content will eat your evenings alive.

If you’ve been weighing up which big ports are worth your money on Switch 2, it’s a similar story to the Monster Hunter Wilds port, where the right price can turn a “maybe later” into an instant buy!

Should You Buy Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 Now?

If you haven’t played the remake trilogy yet and you own a Switch 2, this is an easy yes, because $15.48 for both games is about as low as these are likely to go before Revelation arrives. Even if you’ve already played them on PlayStation, having them in your pocket for under £16 is a pretty tempting double-dip.

The only people who should skip it are those who’d rather wait for an eventual trilogy bundle, but honestly, at these prices, why wait?
